I imported the wrong spreadsheet. Can I undo it?
Yes, and nothing is destroyed. This page exists because a real person asked it, in almost these words, before they had imported anything — which is the right moment to ask, and a fair thing to want answered before you hand over a file.
The limit, before the reassurance
There is no “undo this import” button, and you cannot tick 400 rows on screen and delete them. Those are both things people reasonably expect and neither exists today.
What you do instead is ask, in a sentence.
How you actually get rid of them
Open the assistant and say what you want gone — “delete everything in Members”, or “delete the members I imported with no email address”. Before anything happens you are shown how many records that is and which ones, and nothing is touched until you approve it.
Approve, and they move to the Trash. Not destroyed — the Trash restores them. It is the same delete the record page does when you remove one record by hand, applied to a set.
Two things that make this less likely to happen at all
- An import is all-or-nothing. Every row is validated before anything is written, and a value the importer cannot accept refuses the whole file with one line saying which cell and why. You never get half a spreadsheet and a mess to sort out.
- An import usually lands in its own new collection. It creates the collection it is given and names the fields from the file’s own headers, so a file you did not mean to bring in normally arrives beside your real data rather than mixed into it. There is no column-mapping step to get wrong, because there is no column-mapping step.
The honest shape of it
We would rather have a button. The reason there is not one is that the sentence route is the same machinery that does every other bulk change — correcting a field across a hundred records, pushing a date back a week — and it shows you the damage before it does it, which a one-click undo does not. That is a real trade and you are entitled to weigh it differently to us.
