A contact form is easy. The messages are the problem.
Every free contact form does the same thing: it takes the message and emails it to you. Which means your record of who contacted you is your inbox.
That works until it does not. Two people answer the same enquiry. One sits unanswered for three weeks because it arrived on a Friday. Somebody asks “did we ever get back to that school?” and the only way to find out is to search a mailbox and guess. None of that is a problem with the form. It is a problem with there being nowhere for the messages to live.

- One list of every enquiry, oldest first, with the ones nobody has touched obvious at a glance.
- A way to mark one handled — and to see who handled it, and when.
- The awkward slices: anything older than two days with no reply, everything from one company, everything about one product.
- A nudge when something has been sitting too long, without you having to remember to check.
- The history, so “we never received that” is a question with an answer.

- Every change is kept, so who answered what, and when, is a matter of record.
