Does Quickbase work offline?
Short answer: not any more. Quickbase took offline mode out of its mobile app on 10 January 2025.
Quickbase keeps a page called Quickbase feature retirements. Under features at end of life it lists “Offline mode in the Quickbase mobile app”, dated 10 January 2025, and says those features “have been fully removed.” (Read on 3 November 2026.)
The same line adds a note: “Offline capabilities are still available in FastField”. FastField is a separate forms app that Quickbase owns. Workers fill in forms on a phone with no signal and the answers upload later. That is a good fit for collecting forms. It is not the same as opening your Quickbase app and working on its records.
What that means at work
- A site visit or an inspection with no signal: the Quickbase app itself cannot open or change your records until you are back in range.
- A weak-signal building (a warehouse, a plant room, a rural office): saving can hang or fail, and a half-filled form can be lost.
- When Quickbase itself is down, nobody can reach their records until it is back.
None of that matters if everyone works at a desk with good internet. Quickbase is a strong tool there. It matters when the work happens where the signal is not.
An AI app builder that works with no signal
Bionic Forms builds an app from a sentence or a spreadsheet. The difference is where the records live. Our desktop app for Windows, macOS or Linux keeps a full, encrypted copy of the database on the computer. Adding, editing, search, files and printing all work with no connection, for as long as you like. When it finds a connection, changes go up and come down by themselves. If two people changed the same record while apart, both versions are kept and a person picks.
Bringing a Quickbase app’s data across
Quickbase exports a table’s records as a CSV file. Do that once per table, then drop the file on our home page. You get the records back as a database, and you can describe the screens you want in a sentence. Free covers unlimited apps and 10,000 entries per app. Business is $29 a month for the whole team, with unlimited users.
Where this is honest
- Offline is the desktop app only. In a browser, ours needs a connection too.
- No phone app yet. If your people only carry phones and only fill in forms, FastField may be the simpler answer. If they need whole apps on a phone, look at AppSheet or Power Apps, which do work offline on a phone.
- Building an app needs a connection. The AI that builds it runs on our server. Using it afterwards does not.
- Quickbase’s pipelines and formulas do not come across. The records do, and the screens are rebuilt. Automations are written again as plain sentences.
- We are small and pre-launch. We say plainly which parts are not finished, and your data can always be exported again.
Try it with your own data. Drop a CSV on the home page. No signup to see the result.
Or open the live demo first. No email.
